Rumeila Family Park is not only the best park in Qatar, it also has the best outdoor play area for children. Slides, swings and rope roundabouts are all placed on soft sand next to the Doha Heritage Village, and you can buy refreshments in the evening at a small kiosk.

Not surprisingly, as soon as the sun starts to wane it gets very busy, and you can hear the shrieking of kids until late in the evening.

It's easy to escape from this noise, though, walk away a little and you can enjoy green grass underfoot, or rest under the shade of the pleasant trees listening to the song of the many birds attracted by the greenery of Rumeila Family Park (Al Bidda), a true oasis of peace in the very center of the busy capital city of Qatar.

There are also shops here in Rumeila Family Park to either side of a long stretch of water, although there opening hours seem to be rather erratic.

There's a small auditorium too, which was used for the opening of the American Jazz Festival.

The one thing this park lacks is a decent open air cafe. There isn't one, though, so take a picnic and enjoy it on the grass instead.
