Qatar Visitor Writers:
Following nearly 40 years working in the electrical engineering manufacturing industry, mostly in international developing markets in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, David came to rest in Doha.
Swapping the strictures and demands of the big corporate world for a new set of drivers he set out 13 years ago to make a living as a consultant, helping a wide variety of companies to start and develop their aspirations and businesses in Qatar.
Via his company dch Management David has worked with a wide variety of businesses in many sectors; with clients from manufacturers to engineering consultants and education to publishing, each has enriched both his life and experience. Each new project brings more value to my knowledge and experience and improves the value of my service.
Typical of the departure from engineering, David first got involved in writing and publishing when he helped an advertising and publishing company in Dubai re-organise in 1998. This was followed with similar work to re-profile Qatar Today, while Stacey International contracted him to write Business Travelers' Handbook to Qatar in their Gorilla Guide series - now sold out in its second edition. He has also worked with them on their standard coffee table book QATAR. In 1999 David also started a newsletter for the Qatar British Business Forum which he expanded into a business magazine, in co-operation with both the QBBF and the British Embassy in Doha, focussing on British Business in Qatar.
Among his many other activities, which includes local distribution of British Standards and any other international codes, standards and technical literature, David continues to write short articles, provides a copy writing and editing service and has started his first novel but there again, who hasn't?
