West Bay/ Al Dafna

A very prosperous part of Doha with some huge villas, but not much in the way of shops or other amenities yet. But, with a smattering of embassies you might get invited to some smart parties to eat Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

Who Lives Here?

Well-heeled families who need a lot of space, although rental prices have dropped recently. Nearby schools include the French School and the Qatar International School.

West Bay Lagoon is a large, sprawling community with stand alones and compounds. Some villas are right on the beach and there are some lovely small shared park areas. But it can be a bit Stepford wife like, and might be a bit lonely.

Where Can I Eat?

There's no shortage of five star hotels with the Intercon, Ritz and Hyatt Regency all nearby. The Golf Club is within putting distance, too, and does very good pub-style food.

Can I Shop Till I Drop?

Not really. There are some small supermarkets by West Bay Lagoon, but a shopping centre is planned for the Zig Zag tower and the vast City Center mall is not too far.

Where's the Fun?

You'll have to be patient. The Cultural Village must get finished some time? It seems to have been a building site for ever, but will have a concert hall, theatres and a nice public beach amongst its attractions. The Zig Zag Towers mall will include a cinema, but isn't finished yet, either. For kids, My Gym is a popular indoor play area opposite the Convention Centre.
