Qatar Visitor writer Frances Gillespie is also the co-author of the first field guide to the birds of Qatar, Common Birds of Qatar by Hanne and Jens Eriksen and Frances Gillespie, which was published at the beginning of November 2010. A second edition of a field guide to the region, Birds of the Middle East by Richard Porter and Simon Aspinall, part of the Helm Guides series, was published in August 2010. It is available from amazon.co.uk, price £ 24.37.
