Is it possible for a women to sponsor her husband?

One of our subscribers has written to us asking:

"Is it possible for a wife to sponsor her husband? My husband and I live in Canada and would really like love to come and work in Qatar. Do I need him to find employment first, or can I sponsor him?"

Women have been able to sponsor men in Qatar for a long time - at least officially. In practice, the process was difficult. Some women in high positions were able to get their husbands here, but others had difficulty.

Recently, however, the Qatar government issued a law clarifying that women can sponsor their husbands.

We checked with the College of the North Atlantic, which only employs Candians, and they confirmed that several of their female employees had sponsored their husbands without a problem.

As with men, women who wish to sponsor their spouses usually have to come to Qatar and gain residence prior to bringing their spouses here.
