A Listing of Different Private and International Schools in Qatar with Contact Details

School buildingPrimary and secondary school education in Qatar is currently in a state of flux. There are currently two bodies controlling education in Qatar: The Ministry of Education and The Supreme Education Council. The Supreme Education Council is slowly taking over from the Ministry of Education, and is currently establishing privately managed Independent schools.

Many of these schools have better equipment and resources than the Ministry of Education schools, which also suffer from discipline problems. The independent schools currently teach some subjects in Arabic, and, in theory at least, other subjects in English.

There are problems caused by the different levels of English of the teachers, whose proficiency can range from basic to native speaker. The Supreme Education Council is investing heavily in training its teachers, and hopes to move completely to English over the next five years.

Most expatriate children go to private schools. With a big increase in the number of international schools in 2008, Qatar offers both a lot of choice and very good value for money with education.

Below we have included a list of some of the Private and International schools available in Qatar. This list is by no means all-inclusive.

Thank you very much for having an informative site for the visitors of Qatar. I am looking for a teaching opportunity in Doha Qatar that will suite my qualifications, I am a master's graduate of special education here in the philippines and handled a mainstreaming and a regular kindergarten class for almost 4 years, but I am still looking for a greener pasture in the other country. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you very much
